There is a funny blog called STFU Parents, where they poke fun at parents who overshare on Bookfarce, like with photos of birth or afterbirth. Or their child’s poo or boogers. Or mommy-hijacking every conversation that has nothing at all to do with parenting or children. I have come across the blog a few times over the years and tried to make mental notes of what the world deems Too Much, and to not allow myself to Go There. Even though, let’s be honest, many of my friends and family BEG for the overshare. But that is THEIR problem I guess. Nevertheless, I am sure I have toed the line, and crossed the line of appropriateness a few times, but to make up for it I do try to keep things interesting or amusing even to non-parentals. Which I was one of, very recently. For like: 34 years. So after seeing much ado [disgust] about “belly photos” on STFU Parents, I felt the need to email the girl my alien baby belly photo to inject into her day some disgust in a good way. Well, she awarded me the much-coveted and rarely received Mom’s Gold Star! Which is basically an overshare that is a-w-e-s-o-m-e and that can be enjoyed by non-breeders. Yay me! Happy to oblige, and I soooo humbly accept this award, and would like to thank the Academy…of Pediatrics. Not really. Coming soon: Alien baby now 1 year old?!?
